Yangiqo‘rg‘on District is located in the northern part of Namangan Region and is considered one of the areas with beautiful nature, a moderate climate, and high tourism potential. The district was established on September 29, 1926.
Yangiqo‘rg‘on District borders the Kyrgyz Republic to the northwest, north and northeast, Namangan District to the southeast and southwest, and Kosonsoy District to the west. The administrative center of the district is Yangiqo‘rg‘on town, located 22 kilometers from the city of Namangan. The total area of the district is 540 square kilometers.

The population of Yangiqo‘rg‘on District is more than 195 thousand people. In terms of population, the district ranks 5th in Namangan Region and is one of the areas with a relatively high population density. There are more than 38 thousand households in the district.
The population lives in 14 towns, 11 villages, 68 mahalla citizens’ assemblies and 49 settlements. More than 18 thousand people live in urban areas, while over 176 thousand people reside in rural areas.
